Floating Head
このシリーズを描くに際して考えたことは、シンプルに、当時幻視した顔をそのまま描いて再現しようということです。
私は、昔幻視した生物を描き表したい。しかし同時に、転居の多い半生を経て考えるようになったことを表現したいとも思っています。そのために今まで手を替え品を替えてさまざまな作品を描いてきました。
しかし、そういえば、風景の中に幻視した生物の顔、視線だけを純粋な形で描いていないことに気づきました。10年ほど前はそういった試みで描いていたのですが、当時はアプローチが身勝手すぎて、自分でも理解不能の抽象画になっていました。
まゆげという記号を信頼して、一度しっかり風景の中の視線というのを描いてみようと思い、まずこの3枚を制作しました。Floating Headとは文字通り風景の中にただよう顔です。シンプルに描いたらシンプルに楽しかったのでまた描きたいです。

Floating Head
The idea behind this series of paintings was simple: to recreate the faces I saw in my vision at the time.
I want to depict the creatures that I used to see. At the same time, however, I also want to express what I have come to think after a half-life of moving from one place to another. For this reason, I have painted a variety of works, changing my hands and my products.
However, come to think of it, I realized that I had not painted only the faces and gazes of the creatures I had visioned in the landscape in a pure form. 10 years ago, I painted in such an attempt, but at that time my approach was too selfish and it became an abstract painting that even I could not understand.
Floating Head is literally just a face in a landscape. I enjoyed the simplicity of the painting so much that I would like to do it again.
