EyesとSeeds
この二つは2020年に制作した少し古い絵です。個展に古い絵を持ってくることには悩んだのですが、既存の作品の中ではこの二つが最も私のしたいことの的を射ているなと感じたので、新作と一緒に見てもらいたくて持ってきました。
Eyesは首を欠損した人間を描き、視線の表現の一環として、蛾の羽の模様による目の擬態を採用しました。蛾も好きなモチーフです。虫には好きなモチーフが多いです。Floating Headにも虫が登場します。
Seedsは、望郷の念を想起させる風景の一つとしてひまわり畑をモチーフに採用し、ひまわりの花を丸ごと仮想生物にすげ替えています。この方法はFloating Headの原型になりました。ひまわりの花には種がみっしり詰まっています。種はまだ芽吹いていない眠っているような状態なので、目を閉じた生物を描くのがしっくりきました。

Eyes and Seeds
These two are slightly older paintings that I created in 2020. I had some reservations about bringing older paintings to a solo exhibition, but I felt that of the existing works, these two were the most on target with what I wanted to do, so I brought them along with the new works for people to see.
Eyes depicts a human with a missing head, and as part of the expression of the gaze, I employed the mimicry of the eyes by the pattern of moth wings. Moths are also my favorite motif. Insects have many favorite motifs; they also appear in Floating Head.
Seeds adopts a sunflower field as a motif as one of the landscapes that evokes a sense of nostalgia, and replaces the entire sunflower flower with a virtual creature. This method became the prototype for Floating Head. The sunflower flower is filled with seeds. Since the seeds are in a sleeping state, not yet sprouted, it felt right to draw a creature with its eyes closed.
