ガラスに刷ったドローイング
もともと、ボールペンで楽しくドローイングするのが好きで、それを油画の下絵や発想のもとにしています。
なんとかそのドローイングを作品に落とし込みたいと思っていた時、友人がシルクスクリーンの工房で働いており、版画に着目しました。
シルクスクリーンの良いところはほぼ何にでも刷れること、そしてその耐久性が高いところです。
私はドローイングを作品にするなら絶対に透明な媒体にしたいと思っていました。透明であれば、風景やいろんなものにかざすことができます。それは風景のなかに顔を幻視した感覚を再現する一つの手段だと思いました。
なので、透明のガラス板に、ドローイングを刷っています。Floating Headの３種、RecallingとFetusを合わせた5種の油画の下絵と、その他のドローイングを刷りました。内訳は以下になります。

名付にもこだわりがあるので、下絵と油画で見比べてみて名前も比べてみていただけるとより楽しいかなと思います。
私は大きい絵を描くのが大好きなのですが、小さい絵を仕上げるのは本当に下手くそです。しかし、大きい絵は滅多に売れません。
なんとかして小さい絵を描いて人に手に取ってほしいと奮闘しては、小さいキャンバスをぐちゃぐちゃにするだけの大失敗を繰り返してきました。私の実力不足です。克服したい部分ではありますが、一朝一夕では克服できず、なにか代替案が必要でした。
ガラスにドローイングを刷るのはその解決策としての発案でした。今ではコンセプトとしてもすごくしっくりくる手法ですが、出発はとにかく手にとってほしいという切実な悩みから来ています。

Drawing printed on glass
I have always enjoyed drawing with a ballpoint pen for fun, which I use as a rough sketch and inspiration for my oil paintings.
When I wanted to somehow incorporate these drawings into my work, a friend of mine worked in a silkscreening studio and I turned my attention to printmaking.
The good thing about silkscreen is that it can be printed on almost anything and is very durable.
I knew that if I were going to make a drawing into a work of art, I definitely wanted it to be on a transparent medium. If it is transparent, I can hold it up to the landscape and various other things. I thought it would be a way to reproduce the sensation of seeing a face in the landscape.
So, I printed the drawings on transparent glass plates: three of the Floating Head, five oil sketches (Recalling and Fetus), and other drawings. The breakdown is as follows.

I am very particular about naming them, so I think it would be more fun if you could compare the names by looking at the underpainting and the oil painting.
I love to paint large paintings, but I am really bad at finishing small paintings. However, large paintings seldom sell.
I have struggled to get people to pick up my small paintings, only to repeatedly fail miserably, making a mess of the small canvases. It is my lack of ability. It is an area I would like to overcome, but I could not do it overnight, so I needed an alternative.
The idea of printing drawings on glass was a solution to this problem. It is a method that now fits well as a concept, but it started out of a sincere desire for people to pick up the product.
